What is the cancellation policy?
We have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy. However, there is always the option to reschedule with your coach. If your coach is unavailable, another trainer from our team would be happy to step in, if available. We are also contract-free and do not charge additional fees if you do not wish to renew your package.
How often can I workout?
We will ask you how many sessions you would like with your coach and if you would like to supplement those one-on-ones with other workouts. We will create your plan based on your preferences. Your plan covers unlimited programmed exercises and unlimited support from your coach with no additional fees.
What if my coach is not a good fit for me? Can I change?
Our program differs from traditional fitness programs as our goal is to help you transform your body permanently. However, we know how important it is to click with your coach, so if you ever want to try-out working with someone else, we ask you to contact one of the owners directly. Becky or Ian will gladly work with you to find the perfect fit.
How will my coach help me with nutrition?
All of our coaches have advanced nutrition credentials. To get started, your coach will instruct you to buy a food scale and download the MyFitnessPal App (MFP) to weigh and log your food intake. During week 1, you will share MFP with your coach, track your food using your food scale without changing your day-to-day eating habits, and log your daily weight in your file. Then your coach will provide feedback on what you are doing well and what needs improvement based on your goals. To help you improve, your coach will give you a calorie target and macros to hit. Your coach will check in with you during your session(s) to help you stay on track. If you have any specific dietary restrictions or preferences, they can help you with those too. You also have 24-hour access to your coach via text, call, and email if you need additional support or have any questions.
Can I text my coach as much as I want?
Yes! Outside of your in-person or virtual sessions, you can text your coach anytime to help you stay on track and to answer any questions you may have. The more dedicated you are to our program, the more successful you will be. We are also big proponents of educating our clients, so we encourage curiosity and questions. Your coach will always get back to you within 24 hours [unless they notify you in advance of limited access].
Can’t I get the same results from finding my own workouts on the web?
We love that online workouts have given so many people access to fitness options; if you are consistent about doing the right ones with the correct principles and proper form, they can be very effective. But no one-size-fits-all program can deliver the same results -- or consistency and accountability -- that a program customized for you can. Working with one of our specialists ensures your efforts at the gym are optimized. And we track your progression based on scientific principles - whether it is weight-room related or nutrition-based, so you achieve the results you actually want. Moreover, working one-on-one with another human provides accountability that cannot be duplicated through a workout program online.
Fitness also needs to be holistic - nutrition, sleep, and wellness play a role in achieving your goals - and your coach can help you address all the components you need to succeed. Moreover, our program incorporates psychological elements for added accountability and success.
I’m a beginner (or expert) - is The Michaud Method right for me?
We can develop the perfect plan for any goal or ability level. If you are a complete beginner, an expert, or somewhere in between, we create a plan that will work best for you.
Can I continue to incorporate sports, fitness classes, workouts, and/or other things I like to do?
Our system is heavy on data tracking - this allows us to help our clients achieve incredible results! Therefore, we encourage anything that is trackable, such as cardio [steady state preferred] and pre-programmed workouts, to maximize results. However, we will always work with you if you want to incorporate your favorite fitness hobbies. Just let us know of any existing routines you would like to hang on to, and we will take them into account when creating your strength training program to avoid injury and can improve your [athletic] performance in that area.
What kind of time commitment do I have to make?
We will do our best to accommodate your schedule. Just talk to your coach if you need to reschedule any sessions, and they will do their best to assist.
It is important to note that your commitment and compliance level with our program is directly correlated to your end-result.
What if I have an injury or special needs?
If your medical professional has cleared you for exercise, then working with a personal coach can be highly beneficial for preventing or managing many common chronic conditions and injuries. With The Michaud Method, we will build your exercise routine to meet your specific needs.
